Sam and Sasha own and run an organic farm on the coast of Down East Maine. When planning their rustic, farm themed wedding this past summer, they knew their environmentally conscious way of life should carry through to their wedding and also into their wedding invitation suite. In keeping with this theme, all five pieces of the suite were made from recycled paper in a subtle shade of blue.
Letterpress printing, relief printing of text and images using a press, added another level of sophistication and tactile interest to the suite.
Included in the suite were the invitation, RSVP card, RSVP envelope, accommodation/information card and rehearsal dinner invitation. The RSVP card included options for replying to the wedding, reception and a nice brunch the next morning.
Keeping the entire suite together was a jacket fold, which is a super fun way to keep all the pieces organized. On front of the jacket fold was a complete map of Mount Desert Island where the festivities would take place.
When it came to the invitation design (the most important piece of the suite in our opinion), Sasha knew what she wanted. Incorporating farm elements and conveying the feeling of a relaxed affair were important to her. The graphic of a rooster, and a bicycle casually leaning on a fence seemed to evoke the free-spirited, yet elegant event that was to come.
For continuity, the rooster element was carried through to a number of other pieces of the celebration. He made an appearance on Sasha’s shower invitation, and also the dinner menu that was printed on paper that can be planted to grow wildflowers. A chalk artist also recreated the rooster on a large black board letting guests know where they should sit.
Sam and Sasha’s wedding was a wonderful success. You can see more photos (Courtesy of Michelle Turner Photography) of the vibrant affair on Style Me Pretty (A favorite blog of ours!).
